The committee Guadalupano of Our Lady of Refuge in the Bronx invites you to their “VII Annual Mexican Folk festival”, which its main purpose is to maintain its Mexican roots live on in New York City. This event will be in Our Lady of Refuge gymnasium located at 290 East 196 Street. It will take place on Sunday, March 29, 2009 from 1 p.m. till 4 p.m. There will be typical Mexican dances presented by danced groups: : Nuestra Seňora del Refugio, Estampas Folkloricas Mexicanas, Ballet folklorico mexicano de Nueva York, Telpochtli, Juventud Azteca, Ecos de México, Yavidaxiu y Ballet folklorico San Juan Diego. To cover the events expenses the entrance fee is five dollars. To arrive at the event, take the D train to Kingsbridge Rd.
For months, members of each group have been preparing for this grand event. They practice their dance piece for perfection making sure that they are well prepared to present themselves for a great show. Since the event has become an annual thing it is now a tradition that it takes place in the borough of salsa, merengue, and mariachi. Apart from demonstrating their art and giving of a great show to their audience, they are also helping out to preserve the Mexican culture in the city of New York.
Hundreds of admirers of the Mexican culture show up to the festival and are amused to see a vast amount of dance pieces being presented. Each dance piece represents a certain region of Mexico such as, Chiapas, Veracruz, Puebla, Jalisco, Sinaloa, Chihuahua, south California, amongst many other regions.
Mexico also counts on their excellent dishes gaining a lot of recognition all around with their exquisite taste. Thus not only would the audience enjoy the bright colors and cheerful dances but also they would enjoy the authentic taste of Mexican dishes.
The committee Guadalupano of Our Lady of Refuge was founded 13 years ago. During which these years they have dedicated themselves to help our many different causes benefiting the community.
